Hello and Welcome!

You have arrived at The Rosemary Wreath, where Fairy Stories are much loved and important!

If you are unfamiliar with Fairy Stories, you can discover them here at The Rosemary Wreath. On the other hand, if you are well-versed in them, then you can be inspired anew.

“The land of fairy-story is wide and deep and high, and is
filled with many things: all manner of beasts and birds are found there; shoreless seas and stars
uncounted; beauty that is an enchantment, and an ever-present peril; both sorrow and joy as
sharp as swords. In that land a man may (perhaps) count himself fortunate to have wandered,
but its very riches and strangeness make dumb the traveller who would report it. And while he
is there it is dangerous for him to ask too many questions, lest the gates shut and the keys be
lost.”

J.R.R. Tolkien “On Fairy Stories”

What Will You Find Here?

Here at The Rosemary Wreath you will find regular posts about Fairy Tales, Cautionary Tales, and Folk Tales. The art adaptations that go along with my posts are my creative expression, and are meant to bring the story “to life”.

If you enjoy old-fashioned skills and homemaking, the loveliness and imperfection of “handmade”, and reading treasured stories from the past, then you are in a familiar place!

If you are new here, a great place to start is this post.

Join Me As I Grow

I’m not an expert on Fairy Stories! But, I am a reader of them and I want to pass on the wisdom and inspiration I glean from them.

I have a love for old books and stories, and a love for handmade anything. So, I find creative expression in two of my favorite mediums: papier-mache and sewing.

A Bit About Me

My name is Courtney, I’m a homemaker and mother of four in rural Pennsylvania. I have always home-educated my children, which is why books and Fairy Stories have always been a part of life in my home.

Some of the activities I enjoy are reading, sewing, gardening, preparing nourishing meals, and ,of course, papier-mache.

I began my journey with papier-mache about seven years ago, after being inspired by vintage glass-glittered Christmas and Easter decorations. They seemed so magical to me!

As a consequence, I have found papier-mache to be the perfect medium for illustrating Fairy Stories!

Naming My Blog

Rosemary is my favorite herb. It is the herb of remembrance, and it’s my aim to keep a remembrance of the skills, wisdom, and stories that have come before me. Wreaths are a symbol of continuous life. So to me The Rosemary Wreath is the passing on of treasures from one generation to the next!
